Hawaiian quilts are created in a similar method as when a child creates a unique snowflake design from a folded piece of paper.

The quilt makers cloth is folded, and inspiration for the actual designs are taken from nature objects such as the leaves and vines of native plants. The quilt maker then snips and cuts this folded design fabric to reveal their unique masterpiece when the fabric is unfolded. To create their finished quilt top design, this cut design fabric is layered upon another background fabric of equal size, then the design fabric is then painstakingly hand appliqued to the top fabric with needle turn and reverse applique techniques to create the finished design.

To then create a finished and ready to use quilt, this top design made from the two layers of fabric is then matched with a quilt backing, and a quilt filling. These 3 layers are then stitched or quilted together to ind all the layers of the quilt together. Finally the finished quilt is trimmed and an edge binding is attached to create the ready to use finished quilt.

Our creations build upon this tradition. Most designs are our recreations of famous historical Hawaiian quilts that coveted by some of the best museums on the islands.

The size of our wall quilts is about 40″ x 40″ .

They are created by hand cutting and hand applique of the designs, at miniaturized scale . We use high quality 100% cotton fabrics to create each one, and each is long arm quilted with micro quilting motifs in nature designs to enhance the finished quilt that will be enjoyed for a lifetime.

Our wall quilt example here then also has a convenient rod pocket sewn to the back to make displaying your Hawaiian wall quilt easy.

We offer our Hawaiian designs in 3 ways. These wall quilts are offered as available in both finished quilts and finished quilt tops for those that wish to quilt them themselves. Larger quilts can be commissioned by special order. Queen and king sizes of these designs are very expensive to create. 500.00 -750.00 is the current cost

Digitally downloaded quilt patterns for those that wish to create these on their own are also available in several sizes. ( Wall, Queen, King Priced between $10 – $20 each).
